Detroit Only FCA Pre-Registration is Now Open!

Pre-Registration for Detroiters who want early access to apply for FCA jobs is now open. Detroit at Work is the only way to get early access to apply, and we are making a wide range of supports available to ensure that Detroit residents are fully prepared to apply for these positions before the application process opens up to non-Detroiters. In addition to FCA jobs, Detroit at Work will let you know when other career opportunities that may be of interest to you become available.

If you need help with creating an account, filling out the questionnaire or selecting a Job Readiness Event, our Detroit at Work team can help you in person at any of our 3 Career Centers.

To get ready to apply early, you’ll need to follow these three steps:

Pre-registration includes questions such as name, address, date of birth, contact information and other information as well as FCA job requirement questions. You must answer all questions completely and honestly. If you answer incorrectly your application for early access may be denied. Once you have submitted your answers, you will receive an email asking you to create a password and select a Job Readiness event to attend. There are multiple events to choose from, located throughout the city. When you have selected a Job Readiness event to attend, you will receive a further email confirming the date, time and location of the event you have chosen to attend. You must complete all these steps and attend a Job Readiness event to be eligible for the early access application window.

Click here to Pre-Register and select a Job Readiness Event to attend.

Attend the Job Readiness Event you have chosen at the time, date and location indicated on the email you have received. At the event, Detroit at Work will provide both resources and support to help you become ready for when the early application window opens. Resources and help will include:

  • Assistance obtaining any documents you will need to complete the job application
  • Assistance with preparing to complete the application
  • Math and mechanical reasoning practice tests, as well as signing up for on-going support if required
  • Answers to any questions you may have about FCA’s jobs or what is involved in the hiring process

You must attend and complete a Job Readiness Event in order to be eligible for the early access application process. Please bring your State ID or License showing a Detroit address to the Job Readiness Event so that we can confirm you are a Detroit resident.

If you do not have an official State ID or License you will still be able to attend the event, but you will need to apply for official ID proving that you are a Detroit resident and bring it to one of our three Detroit at Work Career Centers no later than August 15, 2019 in order to be eligible for the early access application process.

After the Job Readiness Event, there will probably still be things you have to do, such as applying for a Social Security card or qualifying Photo I.D., additional math testing or support classes to improve your score, or getting proof of high-school graduation or high school equivalency. Also, if there are any things you feel you still need help with, come in to a Detroit at Work Career Center – our staff will be ready to assist you in overcoming other barriers you may have.

What’s it like to work at FCA?

You may be wondering what it’s like to work in a manufacturing facility. Watch the FCA video below to get a better understanding of what the job involves.

FCA Early Access Applications and Hiring Timing

The early access application window, which is available only to Detroit residents, will open in late August or early September. The window will be open four weeks, with the first two weeks open to Detroiters from the ZIP codes immediately surrounding the new FCA facility (48213, 48214 and 48215), as well as Veterans and Returning Citizens. For two weeks after that, the early access window will be open to all Detroiters. At the end of the four-week period, jobseekers outside Detroit will be able to apply. Over the following months FCA will conduct interviews, make conditional offers and hire new employees. This will happen between late 2019 and the end of 2020 (subject to change).
