Apply by September 30 to start in mid-October

 

Advance your career in residential construction with your Lead Safe Supervisor certificate in lead abatement brought to you by Detroit at Work, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and Detroit Training Center. 

This program takes place over four days (Monday-Thursday) in mid-October where you will learn general lead abatement skills, residential construction readiness, and business development. You will also have the opportunity to sit for the certification exam on the fifth day (Friday).

Graduates will have the opportunity to apply for and join lead abatement teams with numerous construction firms that are actively hiring for roles in Detroit.

Learn more about this program by registering for our Upcoming Employer Information Session on September 26 at 1 p.m. EST at Detroit Training Center. Representatives from Detroit Training Center, MDHHS, and employers will be there to talk about job openings and what it's like to work in lead abatement and residential construction. This is a great chance to see if this program is right for you!

Follow these steps to find the workshop in the portal:

  • Click "Build My Career Skills"
  • In the search box for upcoming workshops, type "lead" and click SUBMIT SEARCH
  • Lead Safe Work Program Info Session should come up as a first option
  • Click Register, you should receive a confirmation email

 

How to Take Part in the Opportunity:
1.    Review the information about the participating companies below and learn more about what being a Customer Service Representative means.
2.    Attend our upcoming Employer Information Session on September 26
3.    Complete the Application Form and send to MDHHS (see below for the downloadable application)
4.    Start the program in mid-October. You only have to commit one week in order to get certified.
5.    Once you complete the course and pass the certification exam, Detroit at Work and the participating employers will help you find the Lead Abatement job that is right for you!
