The 2-hour information session will provide an overview of the Apprenticeship Readiness Workshop and qualification requirements for interested candidates in qualifying for the Overhead Lineman Apprentice and Underground Cable Splicer Apprentice opportunities in 2020 at DTE Energy.

At the information session you will need to provide proof:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Have a commercial driver’s license or good driving record eligible to receive a CDL (CDL requirements in Michigan include having a Michigan driver’s license, being at least 18 and passing a vision test)
The Apprenticeship Readiness Workshop will help interested candidates prepare for each of the application steps to qualify for the Overhead Line Worker and Underground Cable Splicer Apprentice opportunities within DTE.
The starting wage for Overhead Line Worker apprentice opportunities is around $25.85 and starting wage for Underground Cable Splicer is around $28.65. Wages may vary depending on experience and qualifications.
Although there are no guarantees, the workshop is designed to help candidates be successful in the application process, if they apply.
To qualify for the workshop, you must attend one information session and complete a two hour CASAS assessment at a designated Michigan Works! Service Center. If your CASAS assessment score is a 9th grade or greater level in math and reading you qualify to participate in the workshop.
Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent

CAST Test Prep and Employability Skills Training Portion
The class provides thirty (30) hours of instruction to prepare candidates for the Construction and Skilled Trades exam which is a requirement during the application process for the Overhead Lineman Apprentice and Underground Cable Splicer opportunities. Two (2) hours of STAR Interview instruction

Group One: Saturdays 8-4:30pm (4 classes)
Group Two: Saturdays 8-4:30pm (4 classes)
Group Three: Evening sessions M, T, Th, F 6-10pm (8 classes)
Note: Groups 1& 2 run same time in different classrooms
Pole Climbing Exposure Activity
Pole climbing exposure course is 16 hours in length. Gain exposure with safety requirements and climbing heights of 45 feet to prepare for the pole climbing assessment requirement at DTE.
