Qualification Requirements
- Must be a Detroit resident
- At least 18 years of age
- GED or High School Diploma
- Must be able to pass a drug screen
- Ability to climb trees, work at heights, perform strenuous physical work, and outdoors in all types of weather
This is a record friendly program, with the exception of CSC offenses. Assessment and training will be conducted in English.
Tree Trim Academy phases

Work readiness and customer service through Focus:HOPE - 2 weeks - $50 per day stipend

Tree Trimming Training through DTE Energy - 2 weeks and will be located at the DTE Detroit training site, located near Rouge Park - $100 per day stipend

Class B CDL license training through US Truck Driver Training School - 2 weeks - $100 per day stipend
After Training
Successful trainees will achieve Woodsman + status and $15+ per hour, once placed with a contractor. You must work as a Woodsman prior to starting apprenticeship.
IBEW apprenticeship leading to Journeyman status and $28+ per hour pay (average time to reach Journeyman status is 2.5 years).
