PROGRAM TIMELINE (6 WEEKS TOTAL)

WEEKS 0–2: INTAKE & BARRIER RELIEF

Lead: Michigan United Services and Training (M.U.S.T.)

  • Outreach & referral intake
  • Participant screening
  • Barrier identification & stabilization
  • Documentation collection
  • Program readiness determination
Men in Construction

Parallel:
Goodwill Industries

  • TABE Testing
  • GED pathway identification

WEEKS 3–6: TRAINING (4-WEEK COHORTS)

Participants placed into:

  • Focus: HOPE
  • Goodwill Industries
  • Build MI Future
  • Build MI Future Readiness

WEEK 5: SELECTION DEADLINE (CRITICAL)

  • Top 3 participants per cohort selected
  • Contractor engagement +Hiring Event
  • Hiring pipeline begins

WEEK 6: PLACEMENT

Lead: National Midwestern Regional Council of Carpenters

  • Apprenticeship onboarding
  • Contractor assignment

Path to success for participants

  1. Readiness - 2 weeks
    Build job site fundamentals with a skills                                                                              
    assessment & barrier support.
  2. Pre-Apprenticeship - 4 weeks
    Hands-on, trade-specific preparation
    with safety standards & technical basics
  3. Interim Apprenticeship - 4 months
    Paid placement with a contractor on
    an active project. Structured trial
    period for worker & employers with
    wage reimbursement support reduces
    employer risk.
  4. Transition to full apprenticeship
    Contractor confirms performance and
    participant moves into full registered
    apprenticeship. Employer assumes
    wages moving forward.
