Communications Terms of Service (SMS & Email)
Detroit at Work, powered by Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation (DESC)—a Michigan Works! Agency and Proud Partner of the American Job Center Network—connects Detroiters with job opportunities, training programs, supportive services, career navigation assistance, and more.
DESC also partners with employers to support workforce development needs, offering business services such as training, talent sourcing, and labor market insights.
As part of our services, we use email and SMS communications to share timely information about employment, programs, appointments, events, training opportunities, newsletters, and more. These communications are governed by the terms outlined below.
- By opting in to receive SMS communications from Detroit at Work—either by texting a keyword such as JOIN or START to short code 289675, or by checking the SMS consent box during registration—you agree to receive messages that may include appointment reminders, job opportunities, program alerts, event invitations, newsletters, and service updates. Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply. Contact your wireless provider for questions about your text and data plan. You are not required to opt in as a condition of receiving services. Detroit at Work does not solicit donations via SMS.
- You may opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to the number or message thread from which you received the communication. This will opt you out of that specific messaging campaign or communication channel. You may continue to receive messages from other programs or numbers you have separately opted into, unless you opt out of those as well. A confirmation message will be sent upon successful opt-out, and you will no longer receive messages from that campaign unless you send START to re-enroll.
- If at any time you forget which keywords are supported, you can text HELP to the number from which you received the message. You will receive a reply with information about how to use our messaging service, including instructions on how to unsubscribe or seek further assistance. For additional help, you may also call 313-962-9675.
- Message delivery is subject to carrier availability and network conditions. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Your contact information is used only to send messages you’ve opted into. We do not sell or rent your personal data. All communications are handled through secure, authorized service providers. See our Privacy Policy for more details.
- By providing your email and checking the consent box during registration, you agree to receive emails from Detroit at Work. These may include newsletters, service updates, program announcements, appointment-related messages, and event notifications. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking or replying UNSUBSCRIBE. Detroit at Work will not send fundraising or donation-related content via email unless explicitly requested.
