You must wear business attire (no jeans/gym shoes). This may be a first level interview. Capacity is limited.
Durations of recruitment events vary, so please be prepared to spend up to the full day with us.

General Summary:
The U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting for Census Takers. These are short-term positions in the Detroit area. Census takers will go out within the community door to door to confirm those who haven’t responded to surveys in order to be verified and counted. These positions provide the perfect opportunity to earn some extra income while helping your community. The positions start at $15 during the training period which is 2- 3 days and will be local; then the rate goes up to $19 after training is completed. The hours of work are flexible. Employer will be onsite to provide more details and assist with online application.

Responsibilities:
•    Go door to door within the community to get an accurate count and record applicable data

Qualifications:
•    Must be willing to submit to and pass background check
•    Must be 18 and a U. S. citizen
•    Complete online application and assessment
•    Must be able to use hand-held tablet or electronic device which will be provided
•    Commit to completing training

FOR REGISTRATION PURPOSES ALL APPLICANTS MUST PRESENT THE FOLLOWING: REQUIRED:
•    Your valid (non-expired) Michigan ID or Driver’s License
•    Your Social Security Card or Passport
•    Several copies of your resume

OPTIONAL:
•    A copy of your DD214 or letter from the VA if you are a veteran
•    Proof of public assistance income like an award letter from DHS or Social Security
•    Proof of any income earned from a job in the past 6 months (check stub)
•    A copy of your layoff notice or Unemployment documentation, if you are laid off
