A career in the skilled trades offers a wide range of career choices. Apprentices start anywhere from $9-$16 an hour, with the opportunity to each much more as the apprenticeship continues.
And once you complete your apprenticeship and become a licensed journeyman, you will earn an average of $20-$30 an hour, or even more.
Plus you will have a nationally recognized credential that will allow you to work anywhere in the US, or allow you to start your own business and become an entrepreneur!
There has never been a better time to get into the skilled trades. Construction is booming in Detroit and we need Detroiters to have the skills to rebuild Detroit.
Take your first steps toward a skilled trades career as a plumber, electrician, steel worker, operating engineer or many other career paths with this free 8-week training that includes up to $1,200 in financial support.
When finished, you will have the skills to apply for one of the many pre-apprenticeship and trade skill education programs that are now available to Detroiters, and Detroit at Work will provide you with help and guidance to take each step.
